Tempe, Arizona

Technology that disappears into the architecture

Power, lighting, shades, sound, climate, security and the network underneath — designed together and installed by one team.

Who we are

Complete technology systems, designed and installed

Desert Systems is based in Tempe, Arizona. We design the system as a whole — power, control, lighting, shading, audio, video, security and the network — so every part is accounted for by one team.

Our best work happens alongside an architect, designer or builder while the drawings are still open — when the infrastructure can be designed into the building rather than added to it later.

How we work

Kitchen with concealed cove lighting under a timber ceiling, looking through motorized blinds to the downtown Phoenix skyline.

What we do

The same discipline, two kinds of room

A house and a floor of conference rooms need the same thing from us: a system somebody can work without being taught.

Living room with a display set into the fireplace wall and track lighting across a timber ceiling.

Residential

Lighting, shades, music, television, climate, cameras. One interface, and the same way of working it in every room of the house.

Residential services

Boardroom with a wall-mounted display and a touch panel on the table.

Commercial

Conference rooms that start on time, lighting that pays for itself, access control that holds, and a network built to carry all three.

Commercial services

The hard part is not making it powerful. It is making it simple.

Anyone can fill a rack. The work is in the programming that hides it — one button on a wall panel, a phone or a tablet, behaving the same way every time, so the technology stays out of the way of the room it sits in.

Why Desert Systems

Three things we will not trade away

01

Ease of use

One button, phone, tablet or wall panel — and the same button next year. If it needs a manual, we have not finished.

02

Reliability

Good equipment, wired properly, on a network we designed. Most call-outs come from none of those being true.

03

Aesthetics

Five plates on a wall become one keypad. We choose parts that disappear into the finish, because you paid an architect for the wall, not for the switches.

Technology Assurance Plan

We would rather find it than hear about it

Round-the-clock monitoring of your AV and network equipment, so most faults are cleared before anyone in the building notices.
