One way to run the whole house

Seven systems, designed together so they behave like one. Lights, shades, music, television, climate, cameras and the network underneath them.

Living room opening onto a terrace, with lighting, shading and audio on one system.

01 — Home Automation

Everything on one screen

A message when the kids get home. An alert when the garage has been open an hour. The lights, the cameras and the alarm on your phone, whether you are in the kitchen or in another time zone.

Every subsystem lands in the same interface, laid out the same way, so there is one thing to learn instead of six.

02 — Electrical

The power it all runs on

The service, the panel, the circuits and the fixtures are ours as well as everything that plugs into them.

Service upgrades for a house that now runs a car charger, a pool pump and a rack. Panels sized for what the home will draw rather than what it draws today. Rough-in coordinated with the low voltage from the first set of drawings, so the conduit is right before the walls close.

A large display set flush into a blackened steel wall, a leather chair and a living plant wall beside it.

03 — Audio and Video

Sound the room deserves

Music that follows you room to room, or one room that can fill a garden. Both start with speakers placed before the ceiling goes in.

Every recording ever made is a tap away. It seems a shame to play it through something that flattens it. We are an authorized dealer for McIntosh and Sonus faber, so this can go as far as you want to take it.

Approach to the front door at dusk, lit by recessed step lights along a metal-clad wall.

04 — Surveillance

Knowing, rather than wondering

Cameras you can actually pull up, inside and out. Lights that come on before you reach a dark house, and again while you are away so it never looks empty. A message if a door has been left open.

Kitchen at dusk with concealed cove lighting washing the ceiling and downlights over the island.

05 — Lighting

The right light, without being asked

Kitchen at full brightness while you cook, family room down to a quarter when the film starts, path lights on at dusk without anyone deciding. Scenes set once and still right in five years.

Lap pool beside a covered terrace at dusk, the living room glowing behind a wall of glass.

06 — Automated Shade Systems

A wall of glass, handled

Shades that track the sun through the day, holding the heat off west-facing glass in an Arizona summer without anyone walking the house adjusting blinds. Quiet enough to run mid-conversation.

Private cinema with tiered leather recliners facing an acoustically framed projection screen, lit by cool LED cove strips and wall battens.

07 — Home Theater

A room built for one thing

Seating on the right rows, acoustics treated before the finishes go on, and a screen sized to the distance people actually sit at. Get the room right and the equipment has far less to prove.

08 — Custom Speakers

Speakers built for the wall they go in

Sometimes nothing off the shelf fits the opening. We build drivers into timber, millwork and plaster so the speaker takes the shape of the room instead of sitting on top of it.
